All it takes is a wild mind and a disciplined eye

My first encounter with photography was through the family photos my grandfather took of us in the garden with his old twin-lens medium format camera. I was fascinated by how he first determined the brightness with a small device from his pocket and then precisely measured the distance with long, deliberate steps. We would all stand still and listen to the soft whirring of the shutter delay.

Much later, I began taking photos myself, starting with analog, later digital, and much later also exploring cyanotype.

Photography is a complex art. Capturing the subject and mood is one aspect, but the true artistry lies in developing and printing your own photographs. For me it is wonderfully exciting and contemplative at the same time.
